Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the 2034 World Cup was rated the highest ever given by Fifa, the Saudi Gazette reported on Saturday. Before the announcement for the 2030 and 2034 hosts, a record-breaking 419.8 out of 500 score had been recorded for the bid of the country to host the 2034 Fifa World Cup.
A Fifa Congress to be held on December 11 is expected to announce the host cities that will stage future tournaments. Saudi Arabia wants to become one of the world leaders in holding big sports events, like Formula 1 Grand Prix and Fifa Club World Cup; thus, its July bid “Growing Together” is very much in line with that vision.
Saudi Arabian Football Federation chief Yasser Al-Misehal said that the bid has been prepared to stage an event of a lifetime.
“Football is at the heart of Saudi culture, and we are working hard to stage an unforgettable event that will introduce the rich heritage of the Kingdom as well as our famous hospitality.”.
In October Fifa toured potential host towns, stadiums and other venues. In all, the country prepares to host the global jamboree in a field of fifteen stadiums scattered among the leading five cities: Riyadh, Jeddah, Khobar, Abha, and NEOM-a total of ten additional complementary sites. It would, arguably, make the Kingdom stand out as the first country to have arranged a FIFA World Cup event when the competition has reached all forty-eight teams.
“Our bid is an expression of our football development and commitment to technical excellence,” said Hammad Albalawi, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s Fifa World Cup 2034 bid unit. We are committed to ensuring the plethora of host cities and state-of-the-art infrastructure will provide teams, fans, and officials an unforgettable experience.
