In a shocking revelation, the alleged father of Borussia Dortmund star Youssoufa Moukoko has claimed the footballer is not his biological son and is actually four years older than his official age of 20.
In a sworn statement, Joseph Moukoko, 73, stated that Moukoko was born on July 19, 2000, not November 20, 2004 as is officially recorded.
Moukoko’s alleged father said he and his wife “made him four years younger” by obtaining a false birth certificate in Yaoundé, Cameroon before bringing him to Germany.
“Youssoufa Moukoko is not the biological son of me and my wife, Marie Moukoko. Nor was he born on 20 November 2004 in Yaoundé, Cameroon,” Joseph Moukoko claimed under oath. “He was actually born on 19 July 2000. We made him four years younger. Now he was born on 20 November 2004.”
The explosive revelation comes after years of scrutiny over Moukoko’s age, with the forward having been considered a prodigy since bursting onto the scene as a teenager.
Bild, the German publication that reported the story, stated that their investigation in Cameroon found no evidence of Moukoko’s 2004 birth, but did uncover a birth certificate for a “Youssoufa Mohamadou” born on July 19, 2000.
Borussia Dortmund has stood by Moukoko’s official age, with the club’s communications director Sascha Fligge stating that “the biological parents can be traced from official identity documents and birth certificates issued by a German authority.
Fligge added that Moukoko’s German birth certificate was obtained when Joseph and Marie Moukoko gained German citizenship.
The latest development is the latest twist in the ongoing saga surrounding Moukoko’s age, which has been the subject of intense speculation and debate over the years.
With the player now potentially four years older than believed, the revelations could have significant implications for his future and the validity of his achievements to date.
