On Tuesday, Indian Express reported that the Indian cricket board is hesitant to accept Pakistan’s offer to host all ICC matches between the archrivals at a neutral venue for three years.
The development comes two days after the ICC began considering the “partnership formula” to resolve the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy hosting dispute, sources said.
Sources added that under the new format, India will play all its ICC matches in Pakistan in Dubai and Pakistan will play their matches in India in Dubai.
They stated the methodology will be in effect for three years starting with the Champions Trophy 2025 and should resolve CT’s schedule and venue issues.
According to sources, India and Pakistan would not play tournaments in each other’s nations under the new model.
They suggested adding this formula to both teams’ host agreements.
The BCCI is unlikely to accept the suggestion, the Indian media said, arguing there are no security worries in India.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has requested a written assurance from India, but if it gets none, the ICC will decide on the Champions Trophy.
The ICC and BCCI have not yet responded to the idea, according to PCB sources. Pakistan’s request is under consideration, therefore negotiations should take two to three days.
Despite guarantees, the BCCI has refused to send its squad to Pakistan for the event next year, causing tension between Pakistan and India.
