In a groundbreaking move, a Premier League club is set to make history by wearing a kit designed by its supporters through the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
Manchester City, the reigning Premier League champions, have partnered with sportswear brand Puma to launch an innovative initiative that will allow fans to create the club’s official third kit for the 2026/27 season.
Using Puma’s AI creator tool, fans will have the unique opportunity to design their dream Manchester City kit by leveraging text prompts and customization features. The system also includes intuitive sliders to help fans fine-tune their potential designs.
Through the power of AI, we are delighted to offer fans this special opportunity to be a part of Manchester City history and design a kit that could one day be worn by their heroes on the pitch,” said Nuria Tarre, Chief Marketing and Fan Experience Officer for City Football Group.
The winning fan-designed kit will be worn by the Manchester City players during the 2026/27 campaign and also be made available for purchase in club stores.
The announcement has generated a mix of excitement and trepidation among supporters, with some expressing enthusiasm for the innovative concept and others concerned about the potential for suboptimal designs.
This initiative marks a significant step forward in the intersection of sports, technology, and fan engagement, as Manchester City aims to harness the creativity and passion of its global supporter base.
