Following India’s rejection to participate in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan, a lawmaker from the other side of the border has support Men in Blue’s visit. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav stated the Indian cricket team should travel to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy and that politics should not meddle with sports.
The politician mocked Narendra Modi by recalling his crossing the border “to have biryani”.
“If the PM can go there for biryani, why can’t the Indian cricket team travel for a tournament?” India’s ANI reported Yadav’s media conference remarks.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) will hold a virtual conference today to discuss the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which remains questionable since India refused to travel to Pakistan.
Numerous possibilities are being considered, including holding the tournament in Pakistan without India. India’s commercial value makes this unlikely. One option is for Pakistan to host most matches and India to play at a neutral venue like the UAE.
According to PCB sources, the hybrid concept has been rejected, but an ICC source said it could still be considered. If this approach is presented, the PCB will likely insist that no Pakistan matches, including the group match against India, be played outside Pakistan.
According to PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, India’s longstanding opposition to financial remuneration for hosting rights should not be abandoned. He told stakeholders he will campaign for Pakistan cricket’s best interests.
