Baroda’s cricket team broke the T20 cricket record with 349 for five against Sikkim in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Baroda’s batting order outclassed the opposition with exceptional power-hitting. As the opener, Bhanu Pania led the top order. Pania scored an undefeated 134 runs off 51 balls with four boundaries and 15 sixes.
Abhimanyu Singh, Shivalik Sharma, and Vishnu Solanki scored spectacular fifties for Pania. Baroda set a tough aim with Singh’s quickfire 53 from 17, Sharma’s 55 from 17, and Solanki’s 50 from 16.
Sikkim’s bowlers struggled to stop Baroda’s attacks. Roshan Kumar was his team’s best bowler, but his two wickets weren’t enough to stop the scoring. Kumar finished his four-over performance with 2/81 runs. Leeyong Lepcha and Palzor Tamang also lost 55 and 45 runs to Baroda’s firepower, with Tamang taking two wickets.
Baroda hit the most sixes in a T20 innings with 37, beating Zimbabwe’s 27. Sikkim scored 86 for 7 in 20 overs, with only two batters reaching 15 runs. Krunal Pandya, Ninad Rathva, and Mahesh Pithiya split five wickets to enable Baroda win by 263 runs, the fourth-largest margin in T20 cricket history.
Zimbabwe previously had the highest team total. Zimbabwe set a 344/4 aim against Gambia in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub Regional Africa Qualifier on October 23, 2024. Captain Sikandar Raza struck an undefeated 133 off 43 balls, including seven boundaries and 15 sixes, becoming the third-fastest centurion in the shorter format.
